Cold Nights, Warm Cake

the nights are still really cold here in the australian winter. this morning we woke up to 2C! and we even had some frost and ice on the windscreen (happens only a couple of times every winter – big event!!!)…

so out we went, still in pyjamas and dressing gown, with the woodden spatula from the kitchen drawer to write a message…

( i hate winter)

no, not really – we just don't like being cold…

i guess we're still dreaming of the tropical temperatures in bali… even sparks rolls herself up in a fluffy ball to conserve some warmth…

we went inside to our nice warm fire, and seeing that the oven underneath was very hot, decided to bake a cake…

pear cake with nutmeg – perfect for a cold day and super easy to make:

  • 200g butter
  • 4 heaped tablespoons of sugar
  • 4 eggs
  • 300g self-raising flour

mix all the ingredients, put in a greased baking tin, peel and quarter the pears and put in the the cake mix, sprinkle with nutmeg and a bit of sugar, bake until brown.

bon appetit!
