Dinner By The Lake…

after another hot and sticky day we drove up to a nearby lake in the forest for a bit of cooling down in the afternoon yesterday…

but we drove a bit further up the track and had this lovely little beach all to ourselves…

while there are floods everywhere on the east coast of australia, here in the west we've had a very dry winter and only a couple of spring and early summer rains. we come to this lake every summer but we have never seen it so very low. usually the reeds grow in the water, now the water is a good way down from the reeds…

still, we had a refreshing swim. the water is so soft compared to the sea. and after the swim a yummy dinner…

sebastian has been totally spoiling us lately. his brother has gone camping with friends for the week and sebastian cooked a gourmet dinner for paul and me the other night: potato fritters, chickpeas, spinach, tamarind sauce and yoghurt. then he made choc chip cookies two days ago and last night he cooked the mexican beans for our nacho dinner. how lucky are we???

it was so relaxing and peaceful at the lake. i sat at the beach after dinner knitting while paul went for a walk and sebastian climbed the beautiful big paper bark tree…

  1. I love this tale, sounds like the perfect evening, there is nothing like the feeling of swimming in a lake. So glad that Sebastian liked the Natural History Museum post! He looks like quite a cook, the pictures of your dinner are making me hungry as I sit here trying to decide what to make for our dinner. Which reminds me that I need to get some of your recipes, especially the Indian ones…and it looks like you’ve got a good mexican bean recipe going on there too. Yum!
